Independence...YAHOO!

Well...we had a slam, bam, heck of a good time celebrating July 4th!!! Several families came over and we had a cookout, complete with old-fashioned southern-style BarBQ, plus brats and hot sausages from the grill. Rick made his famous potato salad & I fixed a red velvet cake, which was a request from Jessica through Christopher. I'm so happy they were able to drive over from Tampa for a few days!

Of course, the day wouldn't be complete without what has become an annual event...the badminton tournament. Dylan repeated as champion but with a new partner. We all decided that for next year we have to come up with goofball trophies to be held each year by the winners...and then passed on to the next winners. We are going to add names (like they do on the Stanley Cup!) Guess I had better make that happen before next year rolls around.

The day ended perfectly as we all gathered in the back yard to watch the magnificent fireworks display. From our yard you can see multiple grand displays put on at local events...and of course, the day wouldn't be complete without a few from our group getting in on the action. I was happy just to sit and watch while listening to patriotic tunes like "Grand Old Flag" and "America the Beautiful" playing in the background.
